Catwalk or Runway?
Traditionally known as a catwalk but also a runway, the long and usually raised platform is used for models to parade clothing and accessories at fashion launches and shows. A catwalk or runway consists of a sturdy base frame and a surface platform on which the models can strut their stuff. The base is designed to accommodate the constant movement of models parading and to safely support the weight when there are multiple models on its surface at a time.
Custom Catwalks
The height, length, layout and finish of catwalks can vary depending on the individual needs of the event. In some instances, a low profile is required to provide the audience with an eye level, up close view of the show while other events may prefer to use a higher platform. The length and design of runways are often dependent on the available space and the layout of the hosting venue. Alternatively, the design may be based on the planned choreography of the show and number of models to be on the stage at any given time. Catwalk design can be a straight walkway, a tee or Y shape or a strip with multiple extensions branching from the main platform. There are a vast array of finishes available for fashion platforms to achieve the desired aesthetic and vibe of the show. Clearly Fashionable
Our specially designed clear acrylic fashion stage top for catwalks gives a whole different look to fashion parades and events. They are made of a hard wearing 15mm thick, clear acrylic perspex which is securely fixed onto a lightweight Megadeck aluminium frame. Our versatile frames come in a range of sizes starting with a low profile of 300mm through to several metres high. A lower profile platform fitted with the completely clear acrylic top gives the appearance of the models walking on air, while a towering overhead clear platform can be viewed from below, giving the illusion of the models literally walking in the air above. The crisp and clear acrylic finish presents fashion and the models showing it in a whole new light. For added atmosphere smoke machines can be placed beneath the stage or it can be illuminated from underneath to add a soft glow of colour through the surface.
