AFR Business Summit

Megadeck provided the stunning central stage used for the Australian Financial Review 2022 Business Summit. Organised by BHP, the event was held at the Hyatt Regency in Sydney over 2 days, March 8 & 9.

The theme for this year’s event was ‘A new platform for growth’, focusing on the need for business leaders and politicians to work together towards rebuilding the economy after the effects of the Covid pandemic. While Australia has suffered less overall than many other economies, there is still a need to reset and restructure to achieve financially sustainable and beneficial outcomes.

The agenda included keynote speakers, conversations and panel discussions covering a range of topics, all with the focus on rebuilding. The opening keynote address was delivered by our Prime Minister, Scott Morrison and Philip Coorey, the political editor of the Australian Financial Review. There were many other esteemed guests and speakers participating in the event.

The platform provided by Megadeck was a generous 9.6m x 3.6m stage which was clad in a high gloss black acrylic finish. For events of this calibre, the hard wearing finishing material is ideal. After it has been installed, the numerous staff, crew and stagehands walking on and off the stage while setting up won’t compromise the finish ahead of the show. It is also perfect to stand out rather than provide a subtle background. An added finishing touch was a black acrylic fascia which clad 3 sides of the stage.

Guests and speakers were able to access the stage from one side and exit from the other side using the dual set of stairs. This feature enabled a smooth changeover between speakers and provided an efficient flow to the event .
